Pulse Newport Through the Holidays and Beyond...

There is alot going on this December and January at Pulse. Don't get left out in the cold!

Free Trial Classes:

Come try out Ashtanga Yoga: Free trial 1/2 hour classes being held on the following days: Monday Dec 13th at 11:30am and Tuesday Dec 14th at 7:30am. Classes will be led by Cristine Victoria. GetFit kids with Gena Ross - Saturday at 10am - contact Gena to grab a spot - new fitkids only - gena.ross@cox.net

Specialty Classes in the coming weeks:

Saturday December 11th at 8am: 12 Days of Christmas Kettlebell Workout with Ashtanga Yoga - Come try Kathy's special Christmas themed workout with Kettlebells and follow it up with some incredible Yoga led by Cristine. Class will be 90 minutes. Prior Kettlebell experience is preferred. Limit 15 in class.

12/20-12/24 - Jacki and I will be offering FITCamp style specialty class workouts during the christmas week - please check the site scheduler for details
12/27 - 1/3 - Jacki and I will be away - CLASSES will still be on the schedule as usual. Keep it up and try a new instructor!
Christmas Eve 90 Minute BLOWOUT Class: Friday Dec 24th - 8am Bounced and Whipped with Jacki and Kathy - sign up early to reserve your spot.

Open Gym and Babysitting!
Gena Ross will be holding open gym sessions for your kids the week after Christmas. Open Gym will run Monday Dec 27th and Weds Dec 29th from 1pm til 2:30pm - It's a great time for the kids and you'll be able to get your errands run!
Babysitting will be available during the mid morning classes from Dec 20th til Dec 22nd and Dec 27th til Dec 30th.

Recipe of the Week
Roast Chicken with balsamic vinegar,Garlic , and rosemary wild rice pilaf
Cook chicken breasts with skin on for flavor, then remove skin before eating.
2 chicken breasts
2 cloves garlic, sliced thinly lengthwise
1 1/2 cups balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons minced rosemary
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 cups cooked wild rice, made with a vegetable stock
2 scallions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
1/4 cup sunflower seeds, soaked for 2 hours
1. Heat oven to 425º F.
2. In a small saucepan reduce the balsamic vinegar by simmering and stirring occasionally until it
becomes the consistency of a syrup.
3. Add the garlic and rosemary and simmer for 2 minutes more. Set aside.
4. Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and salt.
5. Place on a baking tray and roast in oven for 10 minutes.
6. Brush with generous amounts of balsamic mixture.
7. Turn the oven down to 375º F and roast for a further 10 minutes.
8. Brush again with balsamic mixture and cook 2 minutes more.
9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly, and remove the skins.
10. To make the pilaf, place chicken, rice, scallions, cilantro, mint, and sunflower seeds in a bowl.
11. Mix together and season with salt and pepper.
